Permesso di soggiorno | Polizia di Stato

One of the fastest ways to check the status of your permesso di soggiorno is to do so online through the Questura website. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to the website questure.poliziadistato.it/stranieri
  2. Enter your practice number (10 characters) or insured number (12 characters) that you find on the receipt issued by the Post Office.
  3. Once you’ve entered the data, you will be able to view the status of your application.

If your permesso is ready, in addition to the online notice, you will receive an SMS with all the necessary information for pickup, such as the day, time, and location where you can collect it.

Another useful site: Portale Immigrazione

Before going to the police headquarters, you can also use the Portale Immigrazione website to get additional information about your application. You won’t be able to see the status of your permesso, but it is still useful for other details related to your procedure. For example, you can get information about your appointment date or any documents you need to bring with you to the appointment.
To access it, go to the “Area riservata stranieri” section. Here, you will be asked to enter a username and password. These details are found on the cedolino you were given when you sent your kit to the Questura:

  • Username: The number at the top right of the cedolino (without the dash).
  • Password: The number at the top left of the cedolino.

By accessing this area, you will be able to get more details about your application and save time when you go to Questura.
