The permesso di soggiorno per motivi di lavoro domestico is issued to foreign citizens who perform subordinate work activities within a private residence of a single employer.

Duration of the permesso di soggiorno

The duration of the permesso di soggiorno per motivi di lavoro domestico is as follows:

• 1 year for a contratto a tempo determinato (fixed-term employment contract)
• 2 years for a contratto a tempo indeterminato (indefinite-term employment contract).

How Can I RENEW permesso di soggiorno per motivi di lavoro domestico?

The renewal of the permesso di soggiorno per motivi di lavoro domestico can be requested at the Questura through an authorized post office. This can be done by filling out the appropriate forms (postal kit), 60 days before the expiration of the permesso di soggiorno.

The submitted envelope should include (after filling out forms 1 and 2) documents such as:

• Photocopy of your expiring permesso di soggiorno;
• Photocopy of your passport;
• Photocopy of your identity card;
• Photocopy of the INPS domestic work employment declaration;
• Photocopy of INPS contributions for the previous and current year;
• Photocopy of the last payslip;
• Photocopy of the CUD (tax document) or income certification.

ATTENTION
It is important to only include photocopies in the postal kit and to never send the originals of your documents!
Only bring the originals with you on the day of your appointment at the Questura.

How much do I have to pay?

If you use the postal kit, you will need to pay:

• €30.00: raccomandata (registered letter);
• €16.00: marca da bollo (revenue stamp);
• A payment slip with an amount of:
  • €70.46: permesso di soggiorno valid for 3 months to 1 year;
  • €80.46: permesso di soggiorno for 1 year to 2 years.

Please note, if you have lost your document or need to update it (not renew it), you will only have to pay a €30.46 fee.
